The Crimson Ghost-1946 by 4gottenlore The Crimson Ghost-1946 by 4gottenlore
Before landing the gig as the mascot for "The Misfits", he was know as "The Crimson Ghost" who appeared in 12 short serial films produced by Republic Pictures who produced other serial shorts and movies through the early days of cinema such as:
- Commando Cody: Sky Marshal of the Universe
- the Dick Tracy series
- The Lone Ranger
- Zorro Rides Again
- Adventures of Captain Marvel
- Captain America
to name a few. The basic story of the series was The Crimson Ghost wanted to steal a machine called the Cyclotrode which will short circuit all the devices on earth and help him, well do bad things actually. To check out some more info on the series check out wiki:

Personally though, my first encounter with this character was from watching the comedy movie that was shown on "Night Flight'" during the 1980's in the movie "J-Men Forever". The movie took a bunch of Republic films, sliced them up and stitched them together with some new added footage and re-dubbed the voices. The Crimson Ghost character played one of many incarnations of the evil villain called "The Lightning Bug" from the moon, who wanted to destroy the earth by using drugs and rock n roll. The best similarity of this film is "What's Up Tiger Lily" by Woody Allen. You can check out more info on this film here on wiki:

Considering the history this single mask design has had,the guy who designed the mask really should have gotten a lot more credit:pumpkin:

Awesome job :D. What other serials do you recommend? I really got to get into these since I like Indiana Jones, Star Wars, and Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow :)

The Superman cartoon serials from the 1940's called the "Fleischer Superman cartoons" are ones to check out, especially since you enjoyed Sky Captain because so many of the images and some of the character designs were inspired from the Superman cartoon serials.

You might give some of The Buck Rogers (1939) serials a shot, they were said to inspire Lucas when he was young and the impression from those serials seeped their way into his Star Wars movies.:pumpkin:

Nope :D. I wanna watch the rest of the Crimson Ghost now :D. I think they have King of the Rocket Men on Youtube too or at least part of it :). I kinda came up with my own heroes based off serials but they're still in the thinking process.
